Anyone else out there celebrating the New Year with Nyquil?

Both of us are really sick with some kind of crud.

The thought of food just makes me queasy. Feverish, coughing, headache, and joint pain. Can't get warm. And really cranky because of it. Will be checking out early tonight and likely not back until the morning. Happy New Year, everyone. Wishing us all happiness, success, and especially health in the new year.

got the whole damned family... we looked like a ward in a hospital all laid-up on the sofas. lasted about a week. then, for the last month or so, still have a minor phlegm moment from time to time... just gross.

We're giving 2 or 3 parties a pass tonight for homemade chicken noodle soup and hot tea with whiskey.

I used to go see these guys in Austin in the '80s.

Today is the first day I've had the energy to stay awake, all day (so far, anyway). A week of constantly shifting the generator around to keep the fumes blowing down wind, not always successfully, no sleep and very little food pretty much knocked all of the starch right out of me.

Tonight there will be lasagna, garlic bread, good wine, and falling asleep in front of the TV and fireplace.

There's snow in the forecast, too, so who wants to deal with drunks on slippery roads??

It's frightening how compromising even a very limited exposure to carbon monoxide can be on your neurological system. It was almost like having a mild touch of dementia.

I started coming down with it on Friday and decided I was going to nuke the cold into oblivion.

I drank a lot of hot ginger tea

Chewed cloves of raw garlic. There's a trick to it - chew the peeled clove with your back teeth and wash down the pieces with lots of cold water. That way it doesn't taste as bad.

Zinc tablets

Neti pot

The hydrogen peroxide and water routine. Mix 1/3 peroxide and 2/3 water in a small cup. Dip q-tips into it and wipe your ears and nostrils with them. Gargle the rest.

By Sunday morning I was able to go to church, then took it easy for the rest of the day. On Monday morning I was fine.

And today I feel like crap.

I don't usually have any side efects from a flu shot
but this is certainly an exception.
