This is a departure for Team Obama. To date, they have stayed away from outright combat by routinely declining to name the GOP candidates. Now the president's closest surrogate is dropping the fig leaf.
The vice president is expected to talk about the presidents support for the auto industry bailout, slamming the bailouts Republican critics (including Republican candidate Mitt Romney), as dead wrong.

He quoted Romney, the GOP front-runner, as saying, "Let Detroit go bankrupt," and told the booing crowd how Romney once said the Obama administration's handling of the issue would make General Motors "the living dead." Biden also quoted Gingrich as having called the government funding "a mistake."
