Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe JackAss Senate Republicans have obstructed Obama's nominees once again!
Over 40 pending Judicial* nominations (and tons of pending Administration* nominees too) have been returned to the President due to the sine die adjournment of the First Session, likely all will be formally renominated when the Senate returns on January 6.
*Except for Wilkins (DC Circuit Court nominee) and Yellen (Chair of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors nominee)
Cloture had already been filed on those two and are in the process of 'debate' time - so those two were not sent back to the White House.
Normally the Senate ends up sending only a handful or two handfuls back - but not ever ALL of them!
A big mess of paper work now for the President to renominate them all next week.
I'm not sure about the dozen judicial nominees that already had their hearing and committee vote if they will have to start from the beginning of the confirmation process again after they are renominated or if they will be able to pick up where they left off.
Graham objected to keeping them in status Quo - asshole!

Senator Durbin asked unanimous consent that all nominations received by the Senate during the 113th Congress, First Session, remain in status quo notwithstanding the provisions of Rule 31, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate.
Senator Graham objected.

(7,699 posts)1. Perhaps all that extra paperwork will waste more of our money. Or at least that's what they'd like.

Not unexpected. The good thing is that now they can only delay, but no longer prevent these nominees from moving forward.

I would suspect that unanimous consent is a thing of the past in this Senate.
