Political compass. Take the test. Where do you fall?

I'm sure this has been posted before but not for a while from what I can see.

Take the test to see where you fall on the political compass spectrum. This quiz measures your political leanings along two axis, social and economic, left/right libertarian/authoritarian respectively. It does so by calculating your score bassed on your answers to 6 pages of short questions to which you answer if you agree or disagree to the given statements.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/

The link to start the quiz is at the bottom.

Having taken the test a couple of times I feel that it over exaggerates the left wing answers. For example my results below would have you believe I'm a Marxist anarchist almost which I'd say I'm pretty far from. I like to think I'm much more in line with modern European style socialism. Still it's a fun quiz to take and I urge those who haven't to do so and post their results.

Another thing is I think any test like this that utilizes a likert scale should probably be taken multiple times and have the results averaged. These kinds of scales and questions are somewhat prone to your mood at the time of taking the test.

------------------------------------------

My score was is:

Economic Left/Right: -8.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.97

It is your OP!!!

A diverse professional team has assessed the words and actions of internationally known contemporary leaders to give you an idea of how they relate to each other on the political compass.

My point was what measures were they using to place these people. As you say a team of people assessed the words and actions of these people. I'm assuming then they took the test pretending to be said individual and answered the questions based on a profile they had drawn up of these individuals based on public actions and words. That's going to be fairly subjective. I'm not saying they are wrong, I agree with most of the points on there. But it's quite different from having them take the test themselves, which is obviously not going to happen. IMO it would have been better to not have them placed as dots in this case but outlined as vague coloured areas to give a better feeling of the uncertainty.

But many of the questions are pretty loaded in my opinion. They tend to assume that every corporation is some greedy predator. Juvenile.

But then questions on a likert scale often are extreme. The whole

Strongly disagree

Concept lends itself to extreme questions and responses.

Also, IIRC this whole model is a libertarian recruiting tool (they push people more towards "libertarian" than they probably are).

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.67

I'm rather surprised by the second one. I don't have (to my knowledge) any amounts of authoritarianism, and have never scored that high on it. Granted, -2 isn't exactly 'high', but its still higher than normal (high defined as numerically larger, so -1 is higher than -2 for instance). Maybe I didn't use enough Stronglys.

I've seen the 3-dimensional 'box' that has like...9, I think?...aspects of political thought in it, but I couldn't find it again when I went googling for it. I thought that one was the most accurate one I'd ever seen.

The way that some of the questions were worded were a little strange, though, like the ones asking if submitting to authority is a sign of maturity. Also like a previous poster wondered, I was curious about the astrology one.

There is now a worrying fusion of information and entertainment.

I think they're going for the 24 hour news model here, but taken strictly literally, I think the most effective information is couched in entertainment, and conversely, all entertainment should inform you of something, even if it's just looking at the world from another perspective. Then again, maybe I'm just too pedantic.

Anywho!

And as Recursion pointed out above it seems the poll is slanted towards libertarianism still a fun exercise though, so long as you take it with a grain of salt.
