Scientific knowledge is something to be sought out
not to try to pound over the head of the general populace. I am often approached and inquired by Floridian homeowners that own beach front property. "Is Global climate change real and will sea level rise effect my property"? My response is not the response they were hoping for, but I lay out all the facts and then let the homeowners decide how to proceed with such information. I don't say global climate is real and if you don't believe it you are a fool. I flat out them that this is a strong possibility and you should make contingency plans just in case. After all flood insurance rates for homes and businesses are set to rise in flood zones sooner or later as they (government) can't delay it forever. The real estate market and prospective owners/buyers howled in protest but they delayed the inevitable in Florida.
Anyways, if you ask me while the last IPCC report is a lot definitive how do you explain to the general population that the certainty of anthropogenic influences on climate change is now at 97%-100%? With that said, there is still room for error because a lot of data collected are put into models. But models can't create new sets of data, so a model is only as good as the data you have so even with the last IPCC report there is room for uncertainty as slim as it may be.
