In risky election-year move, Republicans offer Medicare alternatives

Running a political risk during an election year, Republicans continue to offer proposals to cut future Medicare outlays.
The latest offering came on Thursday from a quartet of fiscally conservative Republican senators. The group proposed replacing the current open-ended, fee-for-service Medicare with enrollment of seniors in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP) which offers an array of privately-run health insurance plans.
Members of the group include Rand Paul of Kentucky, Jim DeMint and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Mike Lee of Utah.

I knew it - they want to get rid of Medicare! The GOP is the enemy of the people (especially Seniors!)

Now, this is our opportunity to drive the GOP into the ground forever. There won't be ever a chance like this!

I think they have just shot themselves in the foot.

This is epic to behold. How many groups can a party piss off on belief? I think the GOP should ask the know knothings they replaced

Is it possible that they know something that we don't know or are they just desperate?

just continue with after turning 65 instead of phasing into Medicare. Would they then stop taking that payment in FICA for Medicare out of our checks too or the cost of the plan go down in price? I'd prefer it to go the other way myself - I'd like to see Affordable Care go to Medicare for all ...I just hate having to pay insurance companies, but then again now we need supplementry insurance with Medicare anyway.

But yeah, this is a double hitter...it's "ObamaCare" and it's "Taking Away Your Medicare".

On edit: It's actually a triple..."It's "ObamaCare" IS the same plan they get" which is what the repubs have been asking is why can't they have the same plan Congress gets.
