Personally I feel time took a wrong turn after the 2000 election and we've been living in Biff World (Back to the Future 2) ever since. Come back Marty, and fix things!

(No, I'm saying those that deny we're headed for Fascism, not those that deny Obama isn't a willing participant)
I'll get my asbestos undies now. Some types of discrimination are lost on folks.

(17,266 posts)Total one party control of elections.
They don't have that yet.
Others are only degrees shy of being full-blown 'fascist'.

(10,622 posts)Only on wedge issues is a choice available and then only on the flavor of the Corporate party (C) that will continue to serve corporations over citizens by any means necessary.
Ask yourself one question,
"what is the real difference between the financial and military goals of the Neo-Liberals and the GOP?"
After reading material at PPI and Third way, I see only differences on the sales pitch, not the product.
I would ask that you reevaluate the need for a one named party in a Fascism that develops within a false two choice paradigm.
Thus far we have only seen it's development in multiple party choice environments. We are witnessing something new, a way to hide the fascism within a false choice of two competing COLLABORATORS.
Easier to hide the fascism, easier to disseminate false hope to the serfs, they are getting better at this, that is the difference.

(32,139 posts)The two party system at this point is a facade and a tool with which the elites manipulate blocs of voters with different interests.
We need to point out the collusion between the parties every single time.

(624 posts)A local police officer has the Authority to kill a suspect without due process and the president of United States doesn't ?
Dragonfli
(10,622 posts)do it anyway.
We know what cops do, but did you know that they only have the authority to kill someone if there is no other way to protect oneself and any citizens in danger?
It is not legal to shoot a kid and put a drop piece on him no matter what you have been told. Do they do it anyway? OF COURSE, that is how thugs behave on the top as well as the bottom these days just as such types have behaved throughout history. King or street enforcer, once this sort of thing is accepted that means the thugs are in control.

(6,670 posts)You know, if the war on terrorism created lots of terrorism, and the war on drugs created lots of drugs, maybe this right-wing war on pleasure might not work out so bad after all... nah, we'd just end up with a lot of inferior government pleasure.

(62,325 posts)condemn you to death without charges, without trial, you're already convicted and sentenced. But you should turn yourself in. And what would you say? Assuming you are not blown away before you get to say anything.
I guess you could say you want to appeal the conviction and the sentence. But since the process has been aborted up to this point, what makes you think you can demand an appeal which is basically the end of a process we've been told does not work when we are 'at war'?
How would that work? Who would you turn yourself in to? And since you are targeted for death anyone you turn yourself in to has been given the right to kill you.
The question is 'what would you be turning yourself in for'? To make it easier for them to carry out the Death Sentence?

(10,622 posts)oneself easier to kill by showing up to be executed in a "civilized manner"
I have to say Sabrina, the rabbit hole is far behind us and things are becoming absurdly surrealistic in this dystopia I suddenly find myself in.
treestar
(82,383 posts)The only way to do that is to turn themselves in. Now you're claiming that if they did that, they would not get the trial. So you're admitting now there is no way to try them?
No, you just want to complain, that's all. And on behalf of known terrorists. So we should just leave them alone so they can make their plans and carry them out? Because you've come up with no better solution. And you're laughing about it. Funny, when their victims aren't going to be laughing.

(62,325 posts)have been more than willing to go along with every new violation of their rights. I agree regarding the 'rabbit hole' but maybe we are approaching a tipping point as more people learn that it was not just Republicans which kind of kept us busy for a long time. Now we know this dissolution of rights appears to be bi-partisan.
