If I'm understanding, at least one person died as an indirect result of the bridge closing. That seems like some serious shit.

(4,713 posts)& somehow the fact that those "4 minutes" were tied directly to the lane closure & subsequently her death.
Good luck with that.

(14,040 posts)which would be hard. Had she gotten to the hospital 4 minutes sooner, would the doctors have had a better chance at saving her? Only the doctors know this.

(3,891 posts)There will be an army of trauma and emergency medicine specialists who will argue that the 4 minutes was useless.
To that end, the overworked Resident who declared the victim dead will look like a schoolboy.
A lawsuit would come down pretty much the same way. In the end, the prosecution or the plaintiff would have to prove that it could be forseen that the lane closures would result in death and not just the intended inconvenience. Good luck.

(123 posts)Previously, Fort Lee EMS coordinator Paul Favia had said that paramedics were delayed due to heavy traffic on Fort Lee Road and had to meet the ambulance en-route to the hospital instead of on the scene. Genova later died in the hospital of cardiac arrest.

Not in that case at least. Either someone got to them or they just don't want to bother with it.
