This, despite the efforts of rich, overprivileged, right wing fat-cats to take food out of the mouths of the poor in all three countries.

Benefit of doubt, your intent might not have been what came across, but that is what came across. Think about it.
Now trash thread.

(10,580 posts)fat shaming is not cool.

(5,431 posts)Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins, and it seems to be disproportionately represented among ultraconservatives. If you see an obviously well-fed pol, nine times out of ten, he's not from the left.
When someone like Sensenbrenner accuse the First Lady of having a big butt, he becomes fair game.
When someone like Rob Ford tips the scales at over 340, then it starts to be a question of character, not only because of addictive behaviour, but also because of a degree inattentiveness that is unbecoming of a public official. I mean, you'd think you should have noticed somewhere around a hundred pounds ago that you're getting a little chunky.
Rush Limbaugh deserves no consideration for any reason.
And lord help us if we fat shame Hermann Goering.

Yes, I mentioned gluttony a full 11 hours AFTER FreeState spoke of fat shaming. Note the times of posting.
The graphic only says these gentlemen are right-wingers. Perhaps I'm being disingenuous here, but if people wish to make the connection in their minds, it's totally up to them.
You might want to get that bug out of your butt and read things more closely.
EDITED TO CORRECT SPELLING OF "SHAMING"

(53,339 posts)FreeState did it first? That's your excuse? Gimmee a break!
IntravenousDemilo
(5,431 posts)And no, it's not my "excuse", simply because I'm not looking to excuse it.
Reactions like yours are precisely why I haven't been hanging around here much in the last couple of years. It's just not as much fun as it used to be. Such a dour lot.
At any rate, I'm sorry if I touched a particularly raw nerve with you.

(5,431 posts)You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. To illustrate, here are three very old jokes.
Q What is big and hard and round, and sticks so far out of a man's pyjamas that you can hang a hat on it?
A His head.
Q What does a man do standing up, a woman sitting down, and a dog on three legs?
A Shake hands.
Q What is a four letter word for a woman, ending in -UNT?
A Aunt.

(53,339 posts)How old are you, 12? Your admonishing your elders here to "grow up" is laughable.
Once again, your entire exercise is juvenile and not worthy of DU.

(53,985 posts)I am going to guess, yes. Your post says "What do all these men have in common?" Then, you go on to say, "No, they're all right-wingers." So, what were your true intentions? Was it to point out they were all white? They aren't all bespectacled. They aren't all American. They aren't all living. They aren't all dead. They don't all share the same profession. They aren't all bald, nor all wearing hats. What do they share in common, other than being "right-wingers?" They are all white and they are all overweight. BTW, who is the man in red?
IntravenousDemilo
(5,431 posts)The Enemy.
You have correctly guessed my intention; I did indeed present nine men and then left the rest up to people's innate ability to recognize patterns.
But to your credit, you also noticed that these men are all white, not just corpulent. They all have penises as well. And I'm willing to bet they're all over 40.

Much as if wish to run away from the premise you're putting out, it's totally up to you; not everyone has the courage of their convictions, so I do realize the convenience in not owning up to it... regardless of the petulance used to rationalize otherwise.

(45,319 posts)In fact it is considered to be the primary or source sin from which all others spring for those who believe that stuff, which is apparently you. Pride or hubris as Dante defined it is ' "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor.' So basically deeming our own flaws to be negligible while holding others up for ridicule for theirs is pride, hubris, the deadliest of sins and progenitor of perdition.
Funny how the religious thing goes, those who hurl it at others are almost always more in breach of their own set of beliefs than are those they preach against. Hubris, it's what's for dinner.

(3,447 posts)I 100% agree that fat-shaming isn't cool. It's reprehensible. No equivocation, full stop.
However.
I'm not certain that was the intent. Maybe I'm too trusting (it wouldn't be the first time I've been warned about that), but I think anyone seeing fat shaming is adding a frame of reference. I didn't notice it at first, for instance; it was only because I remember the threads from earlier on the topic that I noticed it at all. Then again, maybe I'm just too used to the appearance of right-wing pols, given that I was raised as a conservative and a lot of them have the same generic template, bodywise. I think the picture makes a valuable point (that being, of course, that if it was their weight you were noticing...you might need to work on your judgementalness).
Please note that 'you' is used in the generic, and is -not- to mean FreeState, the poster.

This is classless. Maybe you could find more use for your "little time." I'm sure there are homeless shelters in your area that could use some help.
