Gallup survey: Republicans have the Mitt Romney blues

Gallup says Republicans are less enthusiastic for Mitt Romney than they were for John McCain:
It's not like Republicans were terribly enthusiastic for John McCain, so these numbers are really not good for Mitt Romney. And note that this is an apples-to-apples comparison: the McCain numbers are from before Super Tuesday in 2008, when he still had not locked down the nomination.
If it weren't for hatred of President Obama, Mitt Romney wouldn't have a chance. But even that isn't enough enough: 19 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say they won't vote for him, up from 14 percent for John McCain.

(22,308 posts)1. +3% staying home and +2% voting for Pres. Obama are good numbers
That is a 1 - 1.5 % swing in the total electorate in our favor. Plus the ones who stay home help all the other (D)s on the ticket.
I'm liking it.

(39,961 posts)2. Stay home
Is going to be a big problem for them. My conservative parents stayed home rather than vote for in the Republican nomination. They can't stand any of them.
