MUST-SEE NEW RELEASE - "Fresh"

This was apparently released in select theaters back in 2009, and, for some reason, was only just released on DVD this past week. It's a fantastic companion film to Food, Inc., and goes even further in-depth into the farms (both conventional and sustainable/organic) themselves. Joel Salatin, who was featured in Food, Inc., is featured even more prominently in this film. Here's a primer to the man:

Michael Pollan is featured as well, along with a few other inspiring farmers (and professors, etc...). Honestly, almost had tears in my eyes when they showed how these guys raised (and respected) the animals humanely and in open pastures...especially when contrasted to the conventional/factory farm. There are even a few interviews with conventional farmers (and a conventional-turned-natural/organic pig farmer, who offers a particularly unique insight).

Again, can't recommend this enough!

...just have a pretty heavy reading list I'm making my way through. I've read In Defense of Food and Food Rules, and enjoyed them immensely. Also, Pollan has a great TED talk from 2007, in which he also makes mention of Salatin and his time as an apprentice on Salatin's farm:

The omnivore's next dilemma

I've also been meaning to purchase Salatin's newest book Folks, This Ain't Normal.

Thanks for pointing to the http://www.freshthemovie.com/ website, I'd encourage people to buy it from there as well. I should've featured it above the Amazon link in the OP to make it more prominent. The Amazon link does offer some good reviews, however.

I bookmarked this earlier and just watched all 3 videos. Love them all!

I'm so fortunate that I get almost all of my fruits and veggies from a local farmer every week through a CSA. My farmer/rancher reminds me of Joel Salatin
