has to be spam or a virus. Your experience?

my guess is somebody out there will figure a way they can be.

(7,188 posts)The expansion of the news about the Target breach is that the hackers have email addresses and will be sending emails to people containing viruses and hoaxes.

(10,136 posts)Almost all the header info in an email is freeform text. The "from" does not need to be real or accurate; it does not even need to be properly formatted as an email address. Spammers are certainly not going to put THEIR email address in the "from" field.
