The US is unsatisfied with Ya'alon's apology after he allegedly called US Secretary of State John Kerry's peace efforts "messianic" and "obsessive," reported Channel 2 on Tuesday.
According to the report, the US wants Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to publicly endorse Kerry's peace efforts to make amends for the incident.
Ya'alon issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying, "The US is our greatest friend and most important ally, and when there are divisions we smooth them over inside the room [behind closed doors], including with Secretary of State Kerry."
In a rare rebuke, the US State Department called the comments "offensive and inappropriate."

We throw money at them, and treat their PM as if he were an oracle of the gods, regardless of what they do or say.

(9,462 posts)through (deal w/Palestine) that the world knows it isn't Kerry or the US or the UK or anything other than the fact that Bibi and the right wingers have no intention of ever recognizing a Palestinian state. We want to keep the complaints focused on the matter at hand. That is, whether Israel will sign a deal that benefits both countries or if this is more smoke about how you're not the problem when in reality, you are. The majority of Israeli citizens support a two state solution, but like our own government there are a minority who are blocking that from happening. These talks will be successful if they do nothing more than prove to the world exactly where Israel stands on the issue.
