Transvaginal sonigram is "Rape with a foreign object" if unnecessary & unwanted.

I'm not a lawyer or legal expert, but wouldn't an invasive procedure such as penetration of the vagina with an object that is both unnecessary and unwanted be considered rape with a foreign object? In addition - the woman must pay for this "rape with a foreign object" - There is something very wrong with the mentality and rationale behind these new laws that dictate unnecessary and unwanted medical procedures.

Therefore it doesn't meet the legal definition of rape. Just like what TSA is doing in the airport doesn't meet the legal definition of groping (or lots of TSA agents would be arrested by now)

A woman demands an abortion and then is "threatened" with rape by foreign object unless she submits to an unnecessary procedure. Sounds like Supreme Court material in the sometime.

the procedure is legal. in order to get a legal procedure she must submit to an unneeded, unwanted object stuck up her. ergo, it is ok.

wrong.

This is disgusting just for that hypocrisy alone. Republicans rail against mandated health care. Unless it is health care forcing a woman to put a foreign object in her vagina so they can make sure she is sure she can't afford a child.

state mandated rape. That is the truth no matter how many weasel words are used to explain away the reality. All of these bills that require trans-vaginal ultrasound are requiring state mandated rape. And again, most of the people voting for these bills are men.

The editor has started a discussion on the issue here. Feel free to weigh in with your opinions:

Also isn't it ironic that right after the newspaper censored a column condemning rape by a foreign object (vaginal probe), the leader of the San Diego Tea Party got arrested this weekend for raping a woman with a foreign object!
http://www.eastcountymagazine.org/node/9044

The newspaper was recently sold to a developer who gave the max to Romney's campaign and many feel the right-wing political slant has become more pronounced.

24. We Need Religious Freedom Exemption to Shaming Wand
Sat Mar 24, 2012, 02:40 PM
Mar 2012

Hi, it seems to me that RELIGIOUS FREEDOM could go a LONG way towards saving women from the “shaming wand”… Religious freedoms (and special religious exemptions from rules and laws, like allowing male Jewish people to wear skull-caps in court-rooms where hats are prohibited to the rest of us, as being “disrespectful” to the courts) should not be reserved just for people society calls “virtuous”. Women seeking abortions should be able to get special religious exemptions as well. Please go to www.churchofSQRLS.com and search for (towards the way bottom) “shaming wand”. Then also please see http://www.churchofsqrls.com/sonograms/ for specific and concrete examples on just HOW to use religious freedom to exempt yourselves from the “shaming wand”… As an entirely practical matter! Planned Parenthood web sites won’t tell me their email addresses, so I don’t know how to get the Good Word about Scienfoology “Out There”… Please help! Or at least, spread the Good Word! – SQRLSy_1@ChurchofSQRLS.com

Doing it as a state mandated procedure NOT medically indicated against the will of the woman is another.

Oh yeah, the woman has to pay for the ultrasound procedure, too.

Consider the field of medicine. How many would go to a doc if everyone could buy medicines over the counter, and order lab tests without the signature of a pro? So, a prescription drug law is made that financially benefits a small group of college grads.

Over time the price of college increases. More college grads have bigger loans to pay off. More laws need creating forcing everyone to use more of the services of college grads. It is an increasing oscillation.

So, enter forced transvaginal sonogram for the singular purposes of showing the subject a picture. Whatever else it may be, it is also a financial rape.

Teabaggers are a male dominated, misogynous radical group that, from the looks of their extremely inadequate relationship skills are prob not getting "enough" (if anything at all) at home & thus desire to f**K women by any & all desperate means they can dream up. (IMHO)

They're sadistic, humiliating, and punishing.

I have had two of those godforsaken procedures done per medical advice, and they were about the most traumatic things I have been through. I cannot imagine what it is like for a woman to go through it against her will, only because she wants to exercise her rights under the law to an abortion.

It IS rape. You are having a foreign object inserted into your body against your will. (Oh, and did I mention that the woman herself is the one who inserts the probe and directs it to the point where the technician takes over? And that it is uncomfortable, and possibly painful, depending on what the probe hits when it's being manipulated?)

There are no words for the revulsion I feel whenever I think of transvaginal ultrasounds. Those who think this will make a woman change her mind about a decision she has made is sadly and woefully mistaken. Male politicians have no right to dictate this kind of requirement for a procedure THAT IS LEGAL.
