but if they voice print the cries for help, and it is Zimmerman, he will get away with it.

Lets say it is Zimmerman's cries, I would argue that Martin was trying to disarm him because he was being followed and accosted and was afraid to disengage without dealing with the gun. I don't know if that will be a winning argument without more evidence. The other possibility would be the contempory witness (the one on one of the 911 tapes) that saw them fighting saying Zimmerman was on top before the shot. He said the person wearing the t-shirt (Zimmerman) was on top but did not make it clear whether it was before or after the shot.

It is screwed up when a man with a gun can approach an individual without a gun and shoot them without any sort of consequences. Especially since Zimmerman was told to leave the boy alone. I got to think most guns rights advocates would want Zimmerman to burn for this. Any bar fight that escalates in the future will have this as an out. Zimmerman had no business engaging with Martin.

It seems to me that the easiest route would have been to charge Zimmerman that night. I think the police concluded that this was a bad black kid and did a sloppy job from the start. They are now caught in that slopiness because it turns out Martin was a good kid. If he was a gang banger with a record, then this story would not have legs. I have heard Zimmerman's dad has some juice so I bet that guided the original investigation. If they had known who Martin was from the beginning, it would have been handled differently. That is still screwed up.

If it is Martin's cries on the tape, then I would think Zimmerman is looking at the chair. I don't think they are because the police are not going to go out on that limb.

and I totally agree that http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/self_defense.html should face prosecution and a jury should decide his fate.

He was instructed by the police to back off, observe and allow the police to handle the situation. Apparently he didn't. Once he stepped out of his car and confronted Martin, I would argue that he both initiated and escalated the situation.

Of course it's hard to determine exactly what happened by reading newspaper stories. However, in my opinion, the situation deserves a thorough investigation and if there is any question that Zimmerman did not use legitimate self defense he should face a judge and jury.

As a gun rights advocate I do believe in the right of an honest citizen to be able to carry a firearm for self defense. I prefer that those citizens who chose to do so have to obtain a carry license to be able to carry a firearm and in order to get that license have to show proof of attending a course on firearm safety and have a background check.

In live in Florida and have a Concealed Weapons Permit and I feel that the Florida "shall issue" concealed weapons program has proved to be an outstanding success since its implementation in 1987.

I also have no problem with the Florida "Stand Your Ground" self defense law which does not require you to retreat if confronted by an attacker that you have every reason to believe intends to severely injure or kill you. However in my opinion you should be required to explain why you made that decision and your explanation should be damn reasonable. For example you find yourself facing an attacker armed with a knife or a gun or is much younger and in far better physical condition or is much larger than you. The threat should be imminent and irreversible.

Florida law agrees with me. ]Use of Deadly Force for Lawful Self-Defense http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/self_defense.html

The legal authorities in Florida have a responsibility to enforce the law. In this case, with the information that I have, I can see no reason why Zimmerman is not facing charges.

After leaving the marines in 1981 i swore i would never own a firearm again. well this story made me change my mind , I went to my local gun shop and bought a glock.I will need to wait a few days to get it . I never thought that i would need to go this route but the POS GOP knuckle draggers are now officially the enemy in my book.

Lewis faced an immediate threat and I believe his actions were in that situation were reasonable.
