These right-wing Christian nuts just simply cannot handle change, especially change of the last 50 years. Damn! We are reverse engineering the human body down to and including tweeking the human genome. We could probably clone humans in the next 50 years if we were allowed. There are 1 billion Chinese, 1 billion Indians, 1 billion Moslems, 1 billion Hispanics. What? You think the human species will stop the progress of human bio-engineering. It ain't gonna happen.

A few years ago, I met a Scottish exchange student who
was researching the history and origins of U.S. slang. He
told me how surprised and dismayed he was by the implicit
misogyny of our commonly spoken language. According to
him, no other presumably civilized culture has generated so
many vulgar, dehumanizing terms for women: hag, bag, nag,
skag, skank, bitch, witch...He noticed too that promiscuous
men are typically referred to as "skirt chasers" or "woman-
izers" - kind words compared to slut, whore, tramp, floozy
or "bimbo". Young girls are "jailbait" elderly women are "old
bitties". Men here don't have sexual intercourse with a living.
breathing person, they just get some "pussy" or "poontang"
or "a piece of ass". If a women refuses sex, she is frigid - a
"cold fish" and most likely a "lesbo". If she enjoys sexual en-
counters, she's a "nympho" with "hot pants". Assertive women
are "ball busters" and submissive women are "clinging vines".
From girlhood to adulthood, American females get evaluated
and labeled: "drama queen", "dumb blonde", "bird brain" , old
Maid", "battle axe", "man-eater", "trophy wife"..

We are not NOT body parts. We are NOT animals ( pigs, cows,
dogs or "chicks&quot . We are the people who buy 81 per cent of
all the goods and services sold in this country! Why has it
taken American women so long to rebel against the media
programming that insults and degrades us?

media programming that insults and degrades us?"

A lot of them aren't even awake, still!

We grew up in this cesspool of a culture & sometimes it's hard to see the shit around you when it's always been there. The objectification of women is so finely ingrained in our society that many people don't see it. Even when it's pointed out to them, they still don't see it, or they don't see the harm.

Documentaries like Miss Representation get no air time. Oprah's network showed it twice. Two times on a network that most people don't even get.

CNN will let their female reporters do segments on the horrid condition of women in undeveloped countries, but here? When our rights are being attacked daily? No. Maybe a one-liner in a In_The_News_Today segment, but an entire segment devoted the current war on women? An hour show?

* Netflix has finally bumped Miss Representation into my queue & says it releases on 4/10. Everyone, watch this documentary!
