Every Afghan woman needs a Kalashnikov

I know this isn't exactly news to many of you, but I've been working too much overtime to notice this:

A government-appointed council of 150 leading Muslim clerics last week urged the strict application of a conservative and literalist interpretation of Islamic law regarding women. The council said Afghan law should require women to wear the veil and forbid them from mixing with men in the work place or traveling without a male chaperone.

"Men are fundamental and women are secondary," the Ulama Council said in a statement on Friday, according to a translation by the Afghanistan Analysts Network.

President Hamid Karzai published the statement on his web site, fueling speculation that he backed the conservative clerics' position.

The Ulama Council's recommendations also included a number of other declarations that seemed to support Mr. Karzai's political positions, including backing peace talks with the Taliban and urging the handover of U.S.-controlled prisons to Afghan government supervision.

Let me see if I got this straight. The Taliban shits all over women, a multinational force led by the US drives out the Taliban and installs a puppet government, we stay in Afghanistan to ward off the Taliban, clear IEDs, and even find the whereabouts of bin Laden so we can repay him for the 9/11 attacks at long last. And how do Karzai and the Afghan government thank everyone? They SHIT all over women.

Let me say it again: Every Afghan woman needs a Kalashnikov. I don't know what the going rate for an AK-47 is in Afghanistan, but in some parts of the world you can buy one for the price of a chicken. They are the world's toughest and most durable military rifles, yet the design is so simple that almost anyone can maintain and fire one.

Arm the Afghan women. Let's see how long they remain fucking "secondary."

Guns always cause more problems. A woman that is a victim is morally superior to a woman that is a murder.

The suggestion appears to be for self defense not an escalation of violence

Are you aware of many of the penalties women have faced under the guise of Sharia? if not it would be a good idea to educate your self. If you are aware ... are you stating that women should simply surrender their lives rather than defend themselves?
