Rick Santorum Crowd Boos Male Hecklers’ Kiss, Start Chanting ‘U-S-A!’

Rick Santorum supporters were enraged as two male hecklers interrupted the Republican hopeful’s rally at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, Illinois by kissing each other. The incensed crowd erupted in boos, as security guards quickly surrounded the instigators and ushered them out of the assembly before it got ugly. The aggravated attendees were thrown into a frenzy and began screaming “U-S-A! U-S-A!” in the protesters’ faces.

The two rabble-rousers Timothy Tross and Ben Clifford, who disturbed Santorum’s speech, wouldn’t reveal whether they were gay. They said Santorum’s anti-gay policies are what really mattered.

“I don’t think the message should be about what my sexuality is,” Tross told Patch’s Savannah Ziegelbauer. “It’s the message that he’s saying about sexuality that matters.”

Other LGBT protesters rallied against Santorum outside the gymnasium he was speaking. “We feel it is important to counter Santorum’s anti-gay hate, to set an example to students,” according to one demonstrator. “Rick sends a message of bullying, but we want high school students to know that other alumni send a message of equality.”
