My question is why didn't Zimmer come forward earlier?

Why wait until now?

That's the only thing that has bugged me about the aid for hurricane Sandy. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they're true.

Christie is a bully and there is no disputing that. The bridge thing doesn't surprise me one bit either.

I'm just bothered by Zimmer's timing. I'm also wondering if Zimmer told anyone about her conversation with the Lt. Governor.

Hopefully, we get some hearings with people being sworn under oath. I heard on the news last week that Chris Christie will need several people willing to swear under oath and someone commented that they doubted he could muster enough willing to lie for him with the threat of perjury hanging over their heads.

Anyway, if I'm missing something here please enlighten me. DU is usually pretty good about that if I'm off base.

makes sense. I don't think they would have investigated it, do you?

2. Simple. She was in shock last May, and afraid no one would believe her.

And how do you think most people would have reacted if she'd brought this up in the midst of his reelection campaign? She would have been a laughing stock.

Mayor Zimmer wants nothing but the best for her constituents, and I'm sure she was hoping against hope that Christie wouldn't go through with the threats. She didn't want to say anything that might interfere with her getting the funding after all.

By now she's had long enough to see that the funds haven't come through. And, after what happened in Fort Lee, and with the election long over, she thinks maybe people will believe her.

That clarifies it much better for me. I was struggling with this and I think you are correct.

Chuck Todd, who would usually bend over backwards to give a Republican the benefit of the doubt over a Democrat, said on "Hardball" this evening that the fact that Zimmer praised Christie in her diary makes her story more credible.

Also, on Steve Kornacki's show, Zimmer had a question for the Christie people. She said she is willing to testify under oath & to take a polygraph test; are they willing to do so?

It makes sense that Zimmer was afraid to come forward at the time she was being pressured. Now that Christie's true colors are being exposed, Zimmer now has allies (state & federal investigation teams) to take her complaints about Christie seriously.

I can't hardly watch Chuck Todd as it is.

I don't put a lot of credence to lie detector tests. They're not that reliable. I want to see how many of Christie's allies are willing to go under oath. Better yet, I want to see him raise his hand up in the air and swear to tell the truth.

I'm glad I asked about this. I'm much more at ease about this than I was.

right, pacalo. Those were my thoughts too.. at one point she called him "my beloved Governor who want to be president".. Wow.

I saw Kornacki's show where Mayor Zimmer was interviewed for the first time and her story is totally believable especially all we know about the Christie Crime Family now.

So she was hoping she would get the money when further funds were available and she hasn't gotten anything over the original relative pittance but now Mayor Z sees all this coming out about the GWB and people coming forth and how can a responsible person not say anything. Even though as she said.. "it was the hardest thing she's ever done."

Think of how both the Christie camp and the MSM would have reacted if she'd told her story back in May. But after seeing a possible link between the Ft. Lee development, the lane closures, and the traffic study coverup, she must have felt like she'd received a gift: a chance, at least, that she could be believed.

So, before the scandal(s) broke, it would have been
a mayor's word against not only the Lt Gov, but the
Gov and his whole creepy bullying criminal gang.
