Barack Obama was born
The Berlin wall was put up on August 13,1961 (I learned about this during announcements after lunch at the
German section at the Middlebury Summer Language School)
In the spring of 1961
I was arrested in Houston TX for taking part in a sit-in (and spent part of the night in the Harris County jail with
four other white students and a 'token' number of black students)
I graduated from college in Houston TX
