If you examine all the GOP rhetoric of late the new meme between the lines is that stopping the public teaching of the Bible and stopping Bible based laws is a violation of the right to practice your religion. The GOP will go to any length to help the religious nuts establish a theocracy as long as it gives them power.
The GOP may not have openly said what this post says, but they might as well say it. What if Moslems demanded the Koran be taught in school? How about the Book of Mormon?

It's Jerry Mahoney to Paul Winchell.
No thanks, Winch!
on edit: for those who don't know who Paul Winchell was. And yes, that's Jerry Mahoney on the left.

In the above case the Establishment Clause protects the rights of religious minorities from the oppression of religious majorities which coopt government to force it's edicts on nonmembers. Logically and legally a majority can't easily prove valid persecution and denial of its right to freely practice it's beliefs. When you hear that argument, the majority wants to impose its beliefs and practices on others, not that their group is prevented from worshipping their god their way.
