$24 General Admission Price Set For NY 9/11 Museum

NEW YORK (AP) -- Adults who visit the Sept. 11 museum at the World Trade Center will be charged $24 admission.

The foundation board that oversees the lower Manhattan museum voted Thursday on the admission fee.

Families of Sept. 11 victims won't be charged. There will be discounts for children, seniors and schools.

The museum is scheduled to open this spring. It's still free to visit the memorial plaza with its twin reflecting pools.

Some relatives of Sept. 11 victims have criticized the decision to charge for the underground museum, which houses relics of the terror attacks.

4. Pass. The Natural History Museum is a 'suggested fee.' Spend your time there.

Many more free and suggested fee museums in NYC. We've been to most.

the Normandy Museum and Memorial is free, as are the memorials to the Vietnam War, the Korean War, WW2, and the American Expeditionary Force (WW1). The National Civil War Museum costs only $10. The National WW1 Museum charges $14, but that's for a two day pass. And while the National World War 2 Museum charges $22, the events chronicled there lasted for a few hours longer than did the event on September 11, 2001.

And what are visitors going to see? Or buy in the Gift Shop? Copies of The Very Hungry Caterpillar?

with only special sections or special shows having a fee attached to be admitted.

St. Louis Zoo, free admission.

Missouri History Museum, free admission

St. Louis Art Museum, free admission

Even our Municipal theater(The Muny) has free seats.

I think there are others that are also free, they are slipping my mind at the moment. Yeah, we pay about 5-6 cents more in property taxes for it, but because of that, even the poorest members of our society can get in these places and have free entertainment and education.
