Republican corruption (Christie, O'Donnell) is an ontological not existential problem.
There is a reason that there is a constant stream of Republican office holders who rather routinely face credible charges of misuse of power.
Inevitably it will be said that they "made bad decisions", indicating an existential misappropriation of values. The idea is that if they only had remained loyal to their real values then they would have made the correct choices.
But it is not an existential problem for these folks it is an ontological one, meaning that it is the essence of who they are.
Republicans support a system of economic and political, rights and privileges, that can be best termed FU Economics, I got mine, so Forget You.
When they use their offices as personal ATM machines or to bully their electorate it is not some misapplication of their values onto the public square, it perfectly shows exactly what their policies are really all about.
It isn't a surprise that there is a constant flow of these stories, just that any of them make it into the media.
O'Donnell's misdeeds came to be known only because they had mistreated their chef and he had bills regarding their daughter's wedding reception that could prove the allegations.
The Fort Lee abuse took place in front of millions and almost went no where. The screwing of the people of Hoboken only came to view when the Fort Lee emails came to light.
These are not the bad actions of Republicans, this is who they are.
