Since Gaddafi has been eliminated this email scam has taken on a new tone

I get these every once in a while but the angle has changed. I just received this in my inbox. Do people actually fall for this garbage? I'm posting this as an awareness that it could be coming to an email near you.

Greetings,

I am Mahasin Gaddafi . I have been a slave and brutally abused in my husband's house ever since i married him and i have been looking for a way out of the marriage. If i do when Col Muammar Gaddafi was alive he would have killed me and my entire children . I am very happy that the people of Libya seek for a better Libya by protesting against Col Muammar Gaddafi which I was in full support of the protest but couldnt declare my support to avoid Muammar Gaddafi anger.

Now that we have revolted in Libya and he is dead , this is the best opportunity for me to run out of the hell marriage i got involved and live a better and free life. I succeeded in moving out $95.5 Million from my husband's underground safe which he accumulated from crude oil proceed and the fund was move to a bank fiduciary vault escrow in Europe London, this is hgihly confidential detail; due to UN, USA, EUROPEAN COMMITTEE sanction on Muammar Gaddafi and his family it is not wise for me to use my name as the depositor of the fund, so i decided to look for someone else not related to me or loyal to Muammar Gaddafi as the depositor of the fund, that is why i am soliciting your partnership to complete this transaction.

I am willing to give you 30% of the sum for securing the fund. I will meet you where ever you want me to meet you as soon as you receive the fund . As soon as this is completed, I'll start a new happy life. This transaction is 100% safe on your side. I need HELP to get out of this families so that i can have a new happy life again.

If you are interested do get back to me for further information. I wait to hear from you on this my private Mail box.

Sincerely
Mahasin Gaddafi

This type of scam has existed at least since the Renaissance, known as the "Spanish Prisoner" or "Turkish Prisoner" scam. In its original form, this scheme has the con man purport to be in correspondence with a wealthy person who has been imprisoned under a false identity, and is relying on the confidence artist to raise money to secure his release. The con man tells the "mark" (victim) that he is "allowed" to supply money, for which he should expect a generous reward when the prisoner returns. The confidence artist claims to have chosen the victim for their reputation for honesty.
