(60,071 posts)I hope women will take to the streets. I will be there with them.
I got a photo of my grand niece protesting against the Alabama government. I'm so proud that she is willing to put herself on the front lines.

The threat to get rid of Planned Parenthood strikes at poor, rural and low income individuals, regardless of gender. But hey, it's the Republican way.

(39 posts)Conservative Christians called the legislation "an affront to God". From pulpits in every state,
fire-breathing preachers urged their congregations to denounce a bill "inspired by Satan and his
blasphemous agents in Washington." Newspapers were deluged with letters from religious
leaders, hysterically predicting the coming destruction of American families - the horrors of
a society "without morality or purpose". Indignant, Bible-quoting Congressmen attacked their
colleagues for even considering a law that condoned and encouraged "wanton, unnatural be-
havior". One overwrought Senator claimed he wept at the thought of happy homes, "torn
asunder by falsehoods and folly" and "innocent children abandoned to orphanages".
What caused this eruption of melodramatic fear-mongering? A 19th amendment to the U.S.
Constitution, giving women the right to vote!
