How liberal/conservative are Dallas, Houston and San Antonio?

I moved to Texas recently, and would like to ask anyone who's familiar with the regional politics: How liberal or conservative are the big cities - Dallas, Houston and San Antonio?

I know Austin is liberal, but what about the others?

And you have to define liberal in the context of Texas. None of those places are liberal like West Coast cities, NYC etc.

Suburb of Houston here. Hubby & I are sooooo outnumbered. He fights the good fight out there, but I am retired so I get to stay at home and read DU.

Julian Castro is the mayor of San Antonio.

Mike Rawlings is the mayor of Dallas, a democrat but not really a liberal.

Houston proper is more blue than red. San Antonio, not sure, but my guess is more blue than red.

I grew up near Dallas, later lived near Houston, and have relatives in San Antonio.

I live in West Oak Cliff in Dallas and this area is Democrat through and through. The Dallas Morning News is very conservative and if you read the letters to the editor everyday like I do, you will see the right wing comments come from outside the city. Before Obama won the last election, I met a lady on business over in Plano (north of Dallas). She was a life long Democrat from New York would moved to Plano a few months earlier. She saw my Obama/Biden bumper sticker and had to give me a hug. She thought there were no Democrats in the area.

I stopped taking that hate filled rag of a paper long ago. It was just a source of continual irritation.

In 2008 and 2012 Obama won the majority of votes in the cities/counties of: Dallas/Dallas, Austin/Travis, Houston/Harris, San Antonio, El Paso, etc.

The Dallas Morning News has always been ultra conservative and suburbs are repub controlled, so I assumed Big D went red. I am pleasantly surprised!

The town I live in now, in east Texas has maybe 5 democrats in the whole town. I get lonely!

Fort Bend is the former home of Tom DeLay the county and state party are working to turn our county blue. If Fort Bend turns blue, then we can win the state

I am leaving to go back to Kansas City. I don't know how liberal Fort Worth is but they proudly flew the confederate flag at the stock show.
