Christie responds to Wildstein with, um... some highly selective reading

Christie says Wildstein confirms Christie's claim of not knowing about the GWB in advance. That is false. Wildstein does not confirm that. He fails to contradict it, but doesn't say affirmatively that Christie did not know.

As for the fact that Waldstein baldly CONTRADICTS Christie's public statements that he didn't know until after the lanes were already reopened, Christie says he denies everything else Wildstein said, without even saying what "everything else" is.

As spin goes, it's a good response. But not likely to hold up.

Mr. Wildstein's lawyer confirms what the Governor has said all along - he had absolutely no prior knowledge of the lane closures before they happened and whatever Mr. Wildstein's motivations were for closing them to begin with. As the Governor said in a December 13th press conference, he only first learned lanes were closed when it was reported by the press and as he said in his January 9th press conference, had no indication that this was anything other than a traffic study until he read otherwise the morning of January 8th. The Governor denies Mr. Wildstein's lawyer's other assertions.”

This is a very weak response in my opinion.

that Christie is a former US Attorney?
as in, should have some idea of what the law says
therefore should have had some way to avoid the pitfalls he keeps stepping into.
