"Why does anyone care about this?"

I am seeing that constantly, on so many threads-- on almost every topic. This might get deleted because of this observation: Almost every time I see it, it's a fairly low number poster.

It doesn't seem to matter if the post is about the bridges in NJ, the ACA being pretty successful, ghosts in the Lincoln Bedroom, stray kitties finding homes, pipelines of any kind--- murders, guns, abortions--- it doesn't seem to matter at all.

Within an hour of posting, some one writes "why does this matter?" and usually follow it up with some claptrap horsecrap about "There are people under bridges!" or "We are all _________!"

I think DU has gotten big enough that there are "folks" here that are going to rack up post counts on issues such as "I am putting in a rose garden," in the lounge, then come to the larger forums and post things like this.

I don't know how to deal with it; it's not like admin. can kick them off. But, just be aware when you see posters like this.

I have 19k posts, going back a decade. Yet I've been called a "low count poster" in the last 6 months. By somebody with 25k posts that registered at DU not that long before me.

but yeah, there seems to be an agenda of deflection and attempts to dampen discussion. This being DU, however - it rarely works.

be this many "so what" comments. And I don't think it has as much to do with "the size of the internets" as it has to do with posters determined (and paid) to discredit DU posts.

Yeah, I agree.
I find the ignore announcement pretty pathetic. and the request for reciprocation even more so.

I suspect someone fell for a previous sig line, and took it personally.

Damn, I wondered who replied...
Is there a sub-thread?

Fuck it!, I've got people on ignore for a reason!

But, I am pretty curious...
And, I have another browser already open right here...

Should I look, NO, maybe....ARGH!

I think it's a real internet issue. Kid you not. I think we have just been "assuming" that there are "dopes" all over the 'net.

I think it's becoming important. or maybe even "became."

People angry that someone wants to talk about something they're not interested in. It's not a DU conspiracy,it's the way of the internets. It's passive aggressive behavior, like making a big deal over who you have on ignore.

It's not always a knee-jerk refutation of the subject.
