Obamas Deputy Drug Czar Admits Cannabis Is Less of a Public Health Threat Than Prescription Drugs and Alcohol

Is it not a scientific fact that there is nothing comparable to marijuana? And, Im not saying it is good or bad, but when we look at deaths and illnesses, alcohol, other hard drugs are certainly even prescription drugs are a threat to public health in a way that just isolated marijuana is not Isnt that a scientific fact? Or do you dispute that fact?
To which Botticelli responded sheepishly, I dont dispute that fact.

Marijuana Policy
Michael Botticelli testified on the Obama administrations marijuana policy.?The hearing occurred as a number of states had decriminalized or legalized marijuana possession, which were at odds with current federal laws.?Chairman John Mica called the policy schizophrenic, a reference to President Obama, who recently said marijuana was less dangerous than alcohol.?Committee Democrats meanwhile asked how the administration could keep canabis on the DEAs list of most dangerous drugs in the face of changing public opinion and moves by states to decriminalize and even legalize the drug.

(4,775 posts)3. Botticelli is a disgrace
from the FDL article:
Botticelli continued to dodge the direct question by again waffling into administration talking points that have been used for going on five years by the Obama administration to justify its conscious inaction with respect to the legalization or reclassification of cannabis
Kudos to Connolly, nice to see a Dem standing up for rational drug policy. It isn't easy to pin down people like Botticelli.
