http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2014/02/05/wingnut-coke-heads-across-america-are-totally-losing-it-over-a-friggin-commercial/" The Freakout Machine is jacked all the way up for a flavored water commercial. And what these fools have to say is, as usual, a load of ignorant pig crap. No, now that I think about it, pig crap is at least good fertilizer, so the Right Wingnuts are even lower than swine poo. Heres why:
Number A: America the Beautiful is NOT our national anthem. In fact, it is a poem that wasnt even sung to its current melody until 1910, long after our nations Centennial. Oh, and it was written by a church-going lesbian college English teacher while she was on a vacation to Pikes Peak.
Letter 2: English isnt really all that much of a muchness, so dont get down on your knees worshipping it. The English language is a just a big, messy pile of words that were stolen from other, older languages. The two writers most responsible for its current form were an opium user (Chaucer) and a mystery man who remains unidentified to this day (Shakespeare). So dont be getting all huffy if every human being doesnt speak it 24/7/365.
Thirdly: switching to Pepsi because you dont like multiculturalism or gay rights is beyond ignorant: PepsiCo is and has been a huge supporter of LGBT rights and marriage equality, and is run by a woman from India, assisted by a management team that includes men and women from all over the world, including Moslems. Yes, those swarthy tarrist types you love to hate. Thats who help bring us the Pepsi you were going to switch to: gay-friendly locals as well as foreigners who dont all speak English as a first language.
Finally: If youre really gonna boycott Coke, you cant go to Chick-Fil-A, McDonalds, Wendys, Cracker Barrel, Papa Johns and a whole raft of other popular eateries. Because unless they let you BYOB, youre gonna be drinking yep, you guessed er, Chester, Coke products.
Really, people, calm the f*** down, OK? Coke is just bubbly water with a load of tasty chemicals dumped in it. America the Beautiful is a nice poem that a church organist put to music. And in our capitalist system, companies make advertisements to sell us stuff (like bubbly drinks, frinstance). And the Super Bowl is the zenith of such American advertising (confession: your humble correspondent liked this one the best). So lighten up, Buttercup, its just companies making money."

(66,436 posts)Shakespeare is not a 'mystery man' who 'remains unidentified to this day.'
In fact, despite the common Oxfordian trope that the Bard's life is poorly documented, the truth is, we have much more available authenticated documentation of Shakespeare's life than many of his contemporaries.
I won't go into all of the pro-Shakespeare arguments here. But he wasn't an 'unidentified' 'mystery man' by any stretch.

After Coca-Colas beautiful Super Bowl ad featuring a multicultural rendition of America the Beautiful that encompassed everything that is good about our diverse melting pot, conservative xenophobes all across America took to social networks to voice their disapproval and anger towards the soda manufacturer for daring to portray what many of them mistakenly believe is Americas national anthem in multiple languages. ...
Well, if they didnt like the advertisement, they are sure to hate this behind the scenes look that explains precisely why the ad is as American as apple pie. In it, all of the members that were featured in the video explain why, although their ancestry and bloodlines come from elsewhere, they consider themselves very fortunate to live in, and enjoy, this beautiful country.
The video begins with all of them explaining where theyre from: I am an American. I am an American. I am Filipino-American. I am a native American. Im an American. Im an American. I am a first generation American. I am French-Canadian. I am a Palestinian American. I am Puerto Rican and American. I am American. Im an American. I am an Arab American. I am an Israeli American. I am an American, and I love America
. We have a real good mixture of people in this country. Every race, every ethnicity, every culture, every religion. Different people coming from all over the world, sharing their food, sharing their languages. Its the world, in one country!
The best part is, the video even features a Native American explaining that Somebody once called me you know, those foreigners and I just thought that was funny because actually THEY are the foreigners!
