This image provided by the Oregon Department of Transportation shows a multi-car pileup Thursday Feb. 6, 2014 near Albany, Ore. As many of 25 vehicles collided in clusters in southbound lanes near Albany, the state Department of Transportation said. A detour was then blocked by another crash.
Part two of the storm is expected to hit Oregon on Friday afternoon, bringing another 6 to 12 inches of snow. ..............

(50,130 posts)Just took the dog out tonight, it's absolutely gorgeous along the river. The geese were noisy. The border collie wanted to romp, but brrrr!

(15,262 posts)of even more snow in the central valley. The coast is warming, but the valley will get hit with snow again as moist air from Hawaii moves in above the cold air. I'm hoping the plastic roof on the solarium doesn't crash in overnight if it cools and snows heavy here.

(19,537 posts)Had a "lunch hour from hell" getting diagnosed with bronchitis and spending three to four hours trying to get to different pharmacies to find the prescriptions I needed, which normally should have taken an hour or less. While driving my wiper blades froze up and I had to stop to crack the ice off of them, my radio started to turn on and off and subsequently when I stopped at a place for only 15 minutes or so, I had to get my car battery recharged before being able to restart my car. It's been a while since I've had experiences like this back in college days in the midwest...
Not looking forward to tomorrow... Thankful though that my car isn't cracked up like some people's are or that someone didn't get hurt near me either...

(7,754 posts)It's really cold (below 0) so the snow is thankfully light and fluffy. Not hard to shovel but bitterly cold out. I went out yesterday morning and bought a ton of supplies. Hopefully won't have to go anywhere until it starts to melt.

(15,810 posts)about every five or six years. This time, we are seeing three consecutive storms over three days that are dumping lots of snow in the valley south of Portland and some snow in Portland.
We aren't getting as much - for the first day, the winds coming out of the Gorge to the east were high and strong and were drying the moisture before it hit the ground. In fact, most of the snowfall the past few days has been extremely dry snow. Kinda cool.
I live at 500' just outside Portland city limits. When it does actually snow, we get a lot. So far the roads are packed but passable. It's not as bad as years past.
When the freezing rain hits later today or tomorrow, all bets are off. It will be ugly.

(15,262 posts)that means the warmer, moist air above the Valley air will bring another big snowfall in the Valley, where an inversion and cold air from Central Oregon settles and keeps it 10 degrees cooler.
