5 billion and an agenda of regime change

Last edited Fri Feb 7, 2014, 09:17 PM - Edit history (2)

Apparently, the US has invested 5 billion dollars in the Ukraine since its independence "to build democratic skills and institutions". As per Victoria Nuland, at 7.50 in this speech she gave in the Ukraine on her third visit since the demonstrations.

Surely, there's no better target for those funds, like unemployment benefits or foodstamps. You've gotta love the altruistic spreading of freedom going on here. Note that Nuland claims the entire population wants to move into the EU, which is patently false. 45 % prefer partnering with the EU, 35% with Russia and 15% neither, so the country is divided.

I'd also take note of this fiery speech in favour of regime-changing demonstrations! Sounds like Victoria Nuland is hardcore OWS! It might come in handy at some point in the future.

For the few that care: the clip of Nuland handing out cookies to protesters was all over the news today, mixed with the phone call. EU president Van Rompuy tonight on prime time: "the US should have stayed home & stayed out". On edit: the statement of Van Rompuy was on an evening talk show, but it's now picked up in MSM, frontpage. Also links to Merkel's "unacceptable", but it's in dutch, sorry. As is this second headline source.

I'm always glad to learn of leftie eurosceptics (like myself - but let me be precise: I'm skeptical of the current shape of the troika-union, but for internationalism and a strong Europe). Thanks for the addition!

Most insightful part:

2. We deem it necessary to draw your close attention to the nature of the political forces that have organized the Euromaidan and today are conducting combat actions throughout the territory of Ukraine. The terrorists have not only launched bloodletting with law enforcement agencies, but are seizing government buildings, smashing and burning the party offices of their political opponents, and applying mob law against the citizens of Ukraine. This unquestionably threatens the safety and life of citizens, as well as their dignity and the inviolability of their property.

You should understand that, in supporting the actions of the guerrillas in Ukraine, by according them the status of "Euromaidan activists" who are taking part in so-called peaceful actions, you yourselves are directly protecting, inciting, and egging on Ukrainian neo-Nazis and neo-fascists.

None of these oppositionists (Yatsenyuk, Klitschko, and Tyahnybok) hide that they are continuing the ideology and the practices of the OUN-UPA. They punctuate all of their speeches at the Maidan with cries of "Glory to Ukraine — to the Heroes Glory!" This Nazi greeting was adopted by the Ukrainian nationalists in April 1941 (at the Second Assembly of the OUN), and was copied from the analogous slogans of Hitler's Nazi Party.

are some of the most spoiled, pampered, lied to, arrogant, egotistical, delusional and gullible people the world has ever seen. Caligula would blush. Empires rise and fall, it was undoubtably better during the rise.

Most people here are sleepwalking in some kind of daze, broken sometimes by riots when their favourite sports team wins. It's not a pleasant thing to watch, believe me. And pointing these things out does not go over well. "A prophet is never welcome in his own land".
