The NFL goes full blast with Michael Sam homophobia

Sports Illustrated has an article up that's full of unsurprising (and anonymous) quotes from NFL insiders in response to Michael Sam's coming out. Here's just one example.

"I don’t think football is ready for (an openly gay player) just yet,” said an NFL player personnel assistant. “In the coming decade or two, it’s going to be acceptable, but at this point in time it’s still a man’s-man game. To call somebody a (gay slur) is still so commonplace. It’d chemically imbalance an NFL locker room and meeting room.”

Much more homophobia on the link.

Talking about how he can't be an "activist"...whatever the fuck that means...it's like Reagan saying Welfare Queen...we all know the bigots got that one, too.

As soon as he rape fucks the first straight player in the shower, he should be banned for life.

Until that happens, let him play the damn game.

5. The "not ready" memo is always used when seeking to deny others their rights.

The country "wasn't ready" for women to vote.
The country "wasn't ready" to desegregate public facilities.
The country "wasn't ready" for women to work in the professions
The country "wasn't ready" for workers to have rights in the workplace
The country "wasn't ready" for people with disabilities to have equal access

Whatever it is the country is never ready until someone with balls makes them ready.

Soldiers live in much greater proximity to one another than professional athletes and they seem to have gotten used to it.

Gays have always been in the military, just as gays have always been in the NFL.

It's just that now the delicate flowers will be forced to be aware of the fact.

Poor babies.
