Psssssssssssssst! More Subpoenas coming and Lawmakers are seeking to compel Kelly and Stepien

to comply with subpoenas

<snip>
The legislative committee investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closure controversy isn’t taking no for an answer.

Lawmakers are seeking to compel a former Gov. Chris Christie top deputy, as well as the governor’s former campaign manager to comply with subpoenas the committee issued last month. The joint investigatory committee found that former Christie aid Bridget Kelly and Bill Stepien’s objections to complying with subpoenas issued last month are “invalid.”

The committee, voting on party lines, approved three resolutions for each Kelly and Stepien that were an apparent move to compel them to produced subpoenaed documents.

Republican lawmakers abstained from voting.

<snip>
The legislative committee investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal is set to issue new subpoenas today.

About a dozen new subpoenas will be considered at the committee's hearing this afternoon, according a source familiar with the proceedings who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Included on that list of possible subpoenas are helicopter records for Governor Christie, the source confirmed.

They've been a little touchy about things flying around since 9/11. I would think if something happened (like the mid-air collision that happened over the Hudson a few years back…[http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/09/continuous/09crash.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0] they'd want to know who was on board so they could notify the family if needs be.

I know the FAA has strict rules and any tampering with a flight log is a major crime that can get you grounded and more!

The helicopter would have been under positive control of a TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control), which means it would have been issued a transponder code so they knew where it was. They would therefore have a record of radar data showing the location of the helicopter and all other traffic. This should be available through a Freedom of Information Act request if it still exists (I don't know how long they keep these records).

in the end the GWB is only the tip of the iceberg. He's being set up for impeachment. They're gathering evidence designed to demonstrate a pattern of misbehavior, abuse of power and malfeasance.

From the NJ Constitution:

Artilce VII, Section III

l. The Governor and all other State officers, while in office and for two years thereafter, shall be liable to impeachment for misdemeanor committed during their respective continuance in office.

2. The General Assembly shall have the sole power of impeachment by vote of a majority of all the members. All impeachments shall be tried by the Senate, and members, when sitting for that purpose, shall be on oath or affirmation "truly and impartially to try and determine the charge in question according to the evidence."No person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two-thirds of all the members of the Senate. When the Governor is tried, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court shall preside and the President of the Senate shall not participate in the trial.

3. Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and to disqualification to hold and enjoy any public office of honor, profit or trust in this State; but the person convicted shall nevertheless be liable to indictment, trial and punishment according to law.

This matter will be referred to the state Assembly for consideration of impeachment proceedings at some point in the next several months.

he's on his way. There is still the chance for him to weasel out of this and there is the necessity of a 2/3 vote of the senate and all of the political implications that go along with that, in order to remove him from office. But....he's finished politically. I am almost certain that the standard for impeachment will be met and that an impeachment trial will be held. Its going to be ugly. (or beautiful-based upon your point of view!)

Then the U.S.Attorney will have at him!
