(69,014 posts)Your old school has shown all the others the way to go.
I went to UMKC, which is loosely technically part of the UM system, but I did spend a lot of time at Columbia visiting friends My campus has no sports to speak of (go Fighting Roos!) but even when I was there, gay faculty or gay anybody was not even mildly controversial. So I'm not surprised by this response!

(58,670 posts)The NFL is still one of the more homophobic organizations out there. This will probably hurt his draft chances. I'm not a talent scout, but from what I've read, he has the skills to play in the NFL. It would be a shame if he doesn't get his fair chance to do so.
I look forward to the day when things like this don't matter.
Beachwood
(106 posts)closet for his career. That, in today's terms, is a priceless opportunity for any pro sports man (men are those that are well-paid in pro sports). THAT, plus he gets to be a role model for young men of all stripes for a few years in our nation's history of pro sport?
PRICELESS!

(13,390 posts)over the way my city and Alma Mater are reacting to this!! Everyone I know (especially Democrats) are so happy about it. Very pleased to identify as an honorary southern state (via SEC), thereby breaking another stereotype! Cheers to southern DUers!
