Alcohol believed to be involved in deadly wrong-way crash on US-23
MUNDY TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -
(02/10/14) - Mundy Township Police say they believe alcohol played a part in a deadly, wrong-way crash on US-23 Sunday night.
We now know the names of two of the three victims involved - including the woman killed.
Thirty-six-year-old Mariah Bailey-Collins, of Mt. Morris, was the woman killed. Her new husband, 28-year-old Bryan Collins, was driving and is in stable condition. A family member tells us they were married just days ago. Mariah's 11-year-old son was in the backseat and is still in critical condition. The child's name is not being released. Police say all three were wearing seat belts.
The teen suspected of causing the crash, an 18 year old from Swartz Creek, was treated for minor injuries and is in jail now as police continue to investigate. His name is not being released.
Police believe the teen had been drinking and may have gotten on Northbound 23, driving Southbound, at the Hill Road exit. That's about three miles away from where the crash occurred, near the Torrey Road overpass, per police.
Police gave us a look at the car the Collins' were in and the car police say the teen was driving. Police believe there was likely nothing the car carrying the Collins' could do to avoid the crash.

(89,252 posts)i also think those who get caught drunk driving even if they hadn't caused an accident yet should lose their license for at least 5 years .
and of course people will violate this and drive anyways but at least when they are caught without a license and violating the rules they can be fined or sent to jail.
