to unionize.
there are no words harsh enough to describe these loathsome criminal fucks. Oh, and Speaker Watson, YOU are the Un-American one, you ignorant asswipe:
Republican lawmakers in Tennessee are threatening that the state could turn off the spigot of incentives for Volkswagen if workers at the German automaker's plant decide this week to approve union representation.
State Senate Speaker Pro Tem Bo Watson in a news conference in Chattanooga on Monday called the United Auto Workers campaign at the plant "un-American." He said a vote in favor of the union would lead the wide GOP majorities in the state Legislature to take a dim view of future incentives aimed at expanding production.
Volkswagen received a more than $500 million incentive package as part of its decision to build the plant in Chattanooga in 2008.
About 1,500 workers are eligible to vote in the three-day union election that starts Wednesday.

(114,904 posts)it makes me sick. just because someone has a D following their names, doesn't, as YOU think, make them a decent person.
there are dem politicians who are corrupt corporate assholes.
and there are plenty of people who mindlessly support them because they look at politics as some team sport.
It's not.

(8,361 posts)Mark Pryor, former Senator Ben Nelson and Evan Bayh and others are very difficult to work with because so many of their votes cater to corporate interests. But it is definitely easier to work with them on issues than some fuckwad Republican who would be there in those states if Dems ran someone up to your standards as "Democratic enough".

(114,904 posts)after all, they need the union bucks too badly, but there are dem politicians who have worked against union interests in subtler ways:

(65,616 posts)Yeah, I was wondering about the Third Way types and their views on unions.
That's a reasonable litmus test.

(42,760 posts)This is a labor/management issue at the plant and those assholes are threatening undue influence. If I was involved I would try to delay the vote and demand the scumbag Speaker Pro Tem to apologize and then after he and his party lose face resume the election with a better chance for victory. This could be a blessing in disguise.

(11,362 posts)... it will provide good jobs for the workers in their state? I guess that's just a lie, then.
One thing, though: the incentives were provided when VW built the plant. There's nothing in the article saying they've requested additional money from the state.

(5,364 posts)This is all about partisan ideologues having a shit-fit and nothing more. Hell, VW wants there to be a union! These mooks want to interfere because it offends their fuedalistic worldview. I guess not all "job creators" are created equal.

(6,852 posts)VW would respond by saying. We are looking at other states who would be happy to have these jobs.

(5,902 posts)a few minutes ago.Ga. and Ala. are only a few miles away and they would be willing to build VW parts in a Union plant to support the Union plant in Chattanooga was part of what was mentioned.
Should be supported. After all they are doing the best job ever in destroying the rethug party anyone could ever hope for.
If the teabaggers rackos stay in the rethug party then they sink the party. And if they split off the rethug party sinks. Obama played rope a dope w the rethug party with devastating effect.

(6,785 posts)So will pretty much any other state. Hell, we'll practically build their plant for them. We've done it for companies that didn't do much beyond wait for the construction to finish and shut the place down for a tax break, so we'll certainly do it for a company that plans to stick around.
