Kentucky GOP To Dem Candidate Grimes: Return Woody Allen's Donation *UPDATE*

Last edited Tue Feb 11, 2014, 11:55 AM - Edit history (1)

The Republican Party of Kentucky on Monday called for Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes to return donations from two men accused of sexual misconduct, including famed director Woody Allen.

Louisville radio station WFPL reported that the Grimes campaign received a $500 campaign contribution from Allen and a $250 contribution from John Arnold, a former Democratic state representative who resigned last year over allegations he sexually harassed three statehouse employees.

....

Cooper said the donation from Allen, who recently denied his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow's allegations that he sexually abused her when she was 7 years old, is "just another instance of someone accused of mistreating women publicly supporting her campaign," as quoted by WFPL.

The Grimes campaign has so far drawn much attention to her rival Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) record on women's issues. A recent poll found Grimes with a small 4-point lead over McConnell.

They just gave Grimes an opportunity to talk about the donations Mitch has received from the various Koch brothers groups to prosecute the war on women, income inequality, environmental destruction, voting suppression, etc.

I mean, sure, they are Republicans and CONservatives, but even the brain trust over at Team Mitch can figure out why this is a bad idea. You can't swing a dead cat at a Republican donor list and not find slime, scum, perversion, etc. SOmetimes all in one package!

Kentucky Dems Demand McConnell Return Barbour Donation Over Pardons

The Kentucky Democratic Party hit back Wednesday at the state's Republican Party, demanding that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) return a $2,500 campaign contribution from former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) over his pardoning of sex offenders and killers.

“It is deeply troubling that Mitch McConnell’s campaign is bankrolled by Haley Barbour, someone who let convicted killers, sex offenders and child molesters roam free," party Chairman Dan Logsdon said in a statement. "McConnell ought to immediately return Barbour’s contribution. The people of Kentucky deserve better than a senator who not only fails our working families, but also aligns himself with the likes of Haley Barbour.”

Barbour caused a stir in his final hours as governor back in 2012, when he pardoned 208 convicts -- 41 of them murderers, sex offenders, or child molesters.

The Republican Party of Kentucky on Monday called on McConnell's Democratic challenger, Alison Lundergan Grimes, to return two donations from men accused of sexual misconduct.

Come out for women's right to choose whether to become parents, or not, and you might get some traction.
Come out for the Equal Rights Amendment, and you might get some traction.
Come out for national law mandating equal pay for equal work, and you might get some traction.
