I was watching the men's short program skating. Had to leave the room for a minute, came back and they're showing a different event. I don't recall this kind of back-and-forth, is it new for these particular games, or am I just slow on the uptake? And who the heck won the skating??

(131,074 posts)Late night, they're switching among events more than during the day and in 'real life,' live.
edit: didn't 'win,' came out today with best score in 'short program.' More tomorrow.

(29,149 posts)Today was the short program, and Yuzuru Hanyu finished in the lead. In fact, he set a record for the highest score ever for a short program under this scoring system.
As to the back and forth--everything is much more neatly packaged in the evening, since none of it is live because of the tape delay.

(15,806 posts)I saw the Russian withdraw, then the other fellow crashed into the wall; saw Jason nail it, then went to answer the phone, never saw the winner skate. Phooey.
Now I'm wondering what the baggy pants are all about . . .

It drives me batty that they break it up into two parts every night since the figure skating is the only event I like to watch.
