Digital Public Library of America. . .?

I apologize, because I'm not sure where the best place to post this would be . . .but I stumbled on this rather new (well, less than a year old) site - it seems a bit confusing doing initial searches, but I wondered if anyone is familiar with this? It appears to be an attempt (and originated at Harvard with a grant) to develop a digitalized public library for open access sharing on a national scale!

I did a couple of searches and came up with some amazing results, both in sound, video, photos, and text - but it took me awhile to figure out where to find the listings.

I know there are some of you who are pretty savvy with library stuff - I just wondered if anyone knew much about this source. . .

I didn't have any trouble researching a particular artist. They didn't have a lot of materials on him though.
