Ellen Page Comes Out As Gay: 'I Am Tired of Lying by Omission'

The "Juno" star made the announcement in Las Vegas at the Human Rights Campaign's THRIVE conference benefiting LGBTQ youth.

Ellen Page has come out as a gay woman.

The star the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past made the announcement in a moving and deeply personal speech delivered at Time to THRIVE, a conference to promote the welfare of LGBT youth held at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I’m here today because I am gay," Page, 26, told the audience "And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility."

Until then, hopefully her coming out helps a kid who is trying to figure out their sexuality.

That's what Fran Drescher says she told her gay ex-husband when he came out. Got a TV series out of it, too.

Not to be harsh, I just like living in a world where it doesn't matter.
Just live your life and be happy.

but there is a large enough group of people who do obsess over it, and make life hard for gay people. Many gay people live in fear of ever coming out. The more big name people that come out publically like this starts a trend toward a normalcy. Maybe her coming out will cause some haters to re-evaluate their positions. Maybe her coming out will give some closeted folks someone to look up to for a little strength. I hope I am making sense. I hurt my back the other day, and the pain killers are making me a little foggy.
