"Snow on the grd in 49 of 50 states and POTUS thinks global warming shld be an urgent priority," Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) wrote on Twitter.

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas):
"In order to push his costly climate change agenda, the President is once again linking extreme weather to climate change — with no scientific support," Smith said in statement on Friday night. "Drought is a serious problem that should not be used to justify a partisan agenda or a new billion dollar climate change fund.

"I look forward to a day when the weather is no longer used to gain political leverage,” Smith said

I don't believe for a minute that Smith and others like him think that their criticism is valid. They do think that others will believe it and that's what counts for them.
What is so disgusting is that these guys will say and do anything to pander to the wishful thinking of their constituencies, including disparaging the science that says 'we have a problem'.

If free speech does not apply when someone yells 'Fire!' in a crowded theater when there isn't a fire, why is it forgiven when they yell 'No Fire! Nothing to be Alarmed About' when there is.
