(11,065 posts)That was the whole reason I switched to Firefox when I was on a slow dial-up. I don't even want to know what the internet looks like without it.

(112,249 posts)I still keep Internet Explorer on my PC since has better tools for diagnosing system problems (modem, DNS server disconnection, etc.).
The other reason to keep IE is that certain hyperlinks on Webpages won't work in any other broweser but IE because of the use of VML codes. For example, if you click on a link or button to go to a subsequent page and it doesn't work, try going to the same site and see if it works in IE.
It is a blessing that I haven't hidden those ads for a couple of years!

(10,893 posts)No more annoying YouTube ads or creepy wingnut ads on DU. The only downside is that whenever I'm using OKCupid, on the right-hand side, I have to look at this creepy picture:

(22,990 posts)In your post showing the image, right click the image and at the bottom of your context window, you should see Adblock Plus:Block Image. Click that and the image should go bye bye.
To block background pictures like that on other sites, go to Adblock Filter Preferences > Custom filters tab > Add filter, and add the image's address.

(22,990 posts)Is it still visible in your post, or on OKCupid?
Did you try adding its address to the custom filters?

I haven't figured out yet if I can install it on my iPad. Is there any way to do that?
