I think this needs to be brought up for discussion...
There needs to be a labeling of our current self defense laws to fully illustrate the
The facts are out,

- if you're white and claim self defense against a person of color most likely you'll be found not guilty or acquitted of whatever crime you're accused of
- if you're black most likely you'll be found guilty of a crime of self defense and EVEN... EVEN not be able to put up such defense because a judge wont certify the immunity (what's happening in a lot of states)
Wording makes a big difference... IMHO
I believe we should put more "descriptive" wording around the bias towards people of color when it comes to self defense laws in America

Pssst - your graphic says it all. But wait until the angry white men show up.

(65,616 posts)I mean, I know common sense and law doesn't always work. I don't think the law can adequately defend the deceased. I can see it being used when BOTH parties are still breathing.
I mean, I defend myself under the assumption my life is being threatened. That could be true, but it could also equally be true that I am wrong and the situation is not what I believe it is. Of course I have the complete advantage in this situation, because I am still alive. So that kind of makes this law subjective.
I'm not sure I am for subjective laws.
