I'd call a doctor and get my ass to the hospital or doctor's office ASAP!

(39,961 posts)like, badly, and I wonder if it has to do with the rabies shot. Don't get me wrong - I'm overjoyed that I will live, but damn.

(19,964 posts)Like anyone here should advise you on the side effects of rabies shots and whether or not it's serious?

(5,420 posts)hows your blood pressure? sometimes nose bleeds can simply be caused by the extra drying from winter. Does your head hurt?

(67,108 posts)nosebleeds can be symptomatic of a lot of things.

(5,067 posts)memory of the shots themselves even though I remember going to and from the hospital and looking in the mirror and seeing my whole face in bandages except for one eye and a slit big enough to stick a straw in so I could get nourishment.
If I were you, I would head to the nearest ER or doctor's office.
MADem
(135,425 posts)You want to rule out a potentially serious adverse reaction to the shots themselves.
Feel better....
MineralMan
(146,311 posts)It's possible it's a reaction to it. Tell them what's going on. Then do what they suggest. That's my advice.

(62,444 posts)I missed that part of the saga.
and I didn't mean to make it a saga. Since the last shot, though, I've been bleeding like a blood bank.

(62,444 posts)...then I don't mind informing you that you MUST immediately see an acupuncturist.
Alternatively, you should suspend yourself upside down and consult by telephone with a distance reiki practitioner.

(2,289 posts)For nose bleeds you hop on one foot with an eel in your mouth.

I now expect to see future posts about a tightening of your chest and pain down your left arm asking if that's normal and what should you do?

(39,961 posts)quite severely. I was also bitten on the foot, but it didn't break the skin. If you care to see my medical papers, I'll offer them, and I did show a screen shot of my medical band.
I know it sounds odd. I'm with you - I would think it odd, too. What proof would satisfy you? I have plenty of documents. Let me know which one you want.

(1,925 posts)just get yourself to where you can be treated.. and if you feel faint.. or would have trouble driving that far.. with a severe nose bleed.. call for help..
Or your Dr's office will give you quick advice..

(10,362 posts)My sister had one after being bitten by a nasty little dog. Never got a nose bleed. Maybe you should see your doctor. They can use these little chemical burn sticks to cauterize the bleeding vein in your nose.

(108,978 posts)Or call your doctor, if you have one. They always have some way to get after-hours calls.
You could also go to an urgent care clinic. If they think you need more, they will pass you on to a hospital E.R.
MAKE SURE YOU TELL EVERYONE YOU SPEAK TO THAT YOU HAVE BEEN HAVING RABIES SHOTS. Also, tell them if you are taking any anti-inflammatory medicines (Motrin, Advil, Aleve, etc.) or blood thinners (Warfarin, coumadin, etc.) that can cause bleeding.

kestrel91316
(51,666 posts)a thing. It has no effect on blood clotting ability and there is no conceivable mechanism that would lead to this.
Nose-blowing and dry mucous membranes in the winter, though, that's another thing entirely.
MADem
(135,425 posts)To this point, though, I'd only read about it in pets--specifically, in a dog (the vet apparently told the owner that the nosebleeds and seizures were a side effect of the vaccine):
http://championofmyheart.com/2013/01/21/adverse-rabies-vaccine-reaction-the-year-in-pictures-part-1/
You are correct that it's not reported as a side effect (likely or otherwise) in HUMANS, at least not according to the CDC:
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/rabies.html
kestrel91316
(51,666 posts)developing nosebleeds or seizures after ANY vaccine. If your dog has nosebleeds, look for a tumor or foreign body.
And they aren't going to happen after human vaccination for rabies either.
Just because something happened after a vaccination was given doesn't mean the vaccine had anything to do with it. And people imagine all sorts of things after vaccines because the anti-vaxers have got them so completely paranoid.
