(44,576 posts)1. Well, the PA chairman recently resigned
James Weinstein, appointed by Christie in 2010, is resigning from NJ Transit...(He)...was heavily criticized for poor planning during the Super Bowl, in which thousands of passengers were left stranded, and Superstorm Sandy, when commuter train cars were parked in an area that was later flooded by the storm:

But his replacement's new chief of staff has been implicated in the emails and never should have been hired in the first place:
Well one way to keep your underlings from turning on you is to give them lucrative jobs. Former Christie staffer under subpoena takes job with Port Authority (It only pays $184,000/yr.):

(37,160 posts)2. She may have been referring to the PA police union president...
...who wasn't fired but is stepping aside from day-to-day duties:
Leader of Port Authoritys Police Union to Reduce Role Amid Bridge Scandal
The president of the union that represents police officers for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, who has come under increasing scrutiny in connection with the lane closings at the George Washington Bridge, told his membership on Thursday that he would step aside from the unions day-to-day operations, a person briefed on the matter said.
The union president, Paul Nunziato, is among 30 people who have received subpoenas from a joint New Jersey legislative panel investigating allegations that access lanes to the bridge were shut down for four days by aides to Gov. Chris Christie as an act of political retribution. The lane closings are also the subject of a federal inquiry.
I thought she said police chief. However, she did use the word "fired".

...or mixing up what's happening with several people.
