Romney econ adviser posts “deport seniors” joke on blog-easier to catch/less likely to find way home

Romney econ adviser posts “deport seniors” joke on blog - Greg Mankiw, the Harvard professor who serves as one of Mitt Romney’s top economic advisers, has managed to take a shot at two key constituencies – Hispanics and seniors – in a single linked post on his popular economics blog. Under the header “A Fiscal Solution,” Mankiw, who served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush, posted an uploaded photo of an unidentified newspaper clip, a joke, that read:

“Budget Cuts: The Immigration Department will start deporting seniors (instead of illegals) in order to lower Social Security and Medicare costs. Older people are easier to catch and less likely to remember how to get home.” ............Mankiw offered no comment other than “Thanks to the reader who sent this along” – but he clearly thought it was funny.

I posted a comment about this "deport seniors joke the other day. Thanks for providing a link which I had not done.

More than anything else this joke shows who these conservatives and GOP operatives as well as the candidates really are. In my earlier post I told the story of taking care of my mother in law for 8 months near the end of her 104 1/2 years. She had full capacity of her mind until just past 101. The her dementia began and advanced over time. She went from a sociable capable lady to a belligerent difficult person.

We also spent a bit of time in nursing homes when my mother in law was required to be there during period of recovery due to physical problems. It is very difficult to see how some of our old people struggle in their declining bodies. That jerk earns my hatred. He should be seized and locked in a nursing home and forced to take care of some of those people. It makes me furious.

That joke in my presence would have caused me to verbally scorch that hateful uncaring bastard.
