Wal-Mart, according to the group, got 261 subsidies worth $149,942,595.
The biggest beneficiary appears to be Boeing, which received more than $13 billion from 137 separate subsidies.
Economic development dollars are supposed to create jobs, but often they help highly profitable companies reap windfalls at the taxpayers expense.

(15,689 posts)in the form of food stamps and Medicaid for underpayed WMT employees, 80% of whom are receiving food aid. That runs to over a billion dollars a year. In fact, it's over 2 billion dollars a year. CEO Mike Duke earns receives more in one hour than his "associates" on the WMT sales floor will make in exchange for an entire year of work.

(6,228 posts)As a tax CPA who know works at a Fortune 500 company, I wanted to see what these subsidies are. Are they jobs tax credits? Investment credits? Hard to analyze and come to a conclusion when they offer no specifics.
