Didn't see it last night...he might have been wearing one then, too.

(12,437 posts)Or, are you baiting the community?
But I think the "Hoodie" thing is really stupid. Just my opinion. But watch Obama run from it. A million Hoodie March! Come on. Ridiculous. People are scared of Gang members in Hoodies. They see them on MSNBC murdering convenience store clerks for crack money. On the weekend. Obama will put the Kibosh on this on the quick. Million Hoodies v The Dopes. Do you realize how bad it looks? I have Hoodies and like them. By the way.
ProSense
(116,464 posts)...fairly silly. Are you a "gang member" or is the "I have Hoodies and like them" sort of like having black friends?
I mean, are you sure you're "recovering"?
I just like my hoodies. They are comfortable. But you do not seem to be able to "get the drift". Try a little harder. I might be on your side.

"A million Hoodie March! Come on. Ridiculous. People are scared of Gang members in Hoodies."
Chan790
(20,176 posts)I don't know of any statistically significant correlation between wearing hoodies and being a gangster.
I wear a hoodie most days, I'm about as stereotypically not-gangster as you can get. They make fun of me for having no style.
But on the CopShows a lot of the killers wear Hoodies. I have volunteered at the Food Bank but did not deal with the gangs. Just the homeless and down and out. But I think that people are scared of the kids with Hoodies. They think it is like a way to disguise. I hope this turns out well. I just wonder why the big publicity for this but not for the Blacks that get the railroad. No resources for defense. Stuck in the system. Lots of wrongful convictions or plea bargains even though innocent. What about when the accused is a Black Guy with no resources? That is the point I have been trying to make. Now they are leaving the family behind and using this tragedy to make hay about the law.

(12,437 posts)With Sandford being only a 2 hour drive for you...well I assume you will wear your Hoodie and attend the March and Rally. I couldn't imagine you not leaping at the amazingly historic opportunity to stand and be among the leaders of civil rights and justice.

It doesn't look like anyone is putting the Kibosh on these rallies. There's another one Sunday in L.A., Monday in Philadelphia, others.

21. What right to birth control is being stepped on?
Sooner or later they will come after you with forced birth control. For example in order to get benefits you have to have an implant. Already they are going after drug testing to get benefits. The next question will be this. Why should poor people getting free benefits be allowed to have more babies when birth control is so easy. Women should not be sentanced to having more and more babies when they are on welfare. When you go in for your drug test you can have an implant. Then when you get off the free benefits you can have it taken out. This is a big mess. Be careful what you ask for. Like in China they can only have one child so they abort all the females they can. A real slippery slope.

oh wait, is logic liberal?
I hope it got you thinking. I was running on about that. One thing leads to another ya know. Do you think that with the advances in DNA and pre-natal testing that one day people will get selective? In their offspring. I think it is a good question. Suppose they could have selective abortion? Ethical and moral questions will have to be answered.
Whoa_Nelly
(21,236 posts)About the only thing I can say to respond to this selectivity concept:
"I think a good product would be "Baby Duck Hat." It's a fake baby duck, which you strap on top of your head. Then you go swimming underwater until you find a mommy duck and her babies, and you join them. Then all of the sudden, you stand up out of the water and roar like Godzilla. Man those ducks really take off! Also Baby Duck Hat is good for parties." ~Jack Handey~

He's standing in solidarity with a family that has had a child murdered.
Watch and learn. Bad polls. As all the horrible injustices continue. Obama is putting on the Kibosh. The wrongfully convicted will languish. In Jail. The plea bargained innocents will be in lockdown. And on it go as nobody cares. The million hoodie march will be dumped. But never mind what I think. Where is Sharpton? I thought there was a big protest in Sanford tonite????

I will be there too. Once the facts are in evidence. Not media reports. I think the Hoodies are silly. And Stupid. And counterproductive. This is getting as bad as the Casey Anthony trial.

CAPHAVOC
(1,138 posts)Is how many poor blacks are railroaded in the system. By not letting Zimmerman get due process then it is easier for others not to have it. This will be adjudicated. But it is just one case. Many are on Death Row and Life Terms that are innocent. This is why. Zimmerman will be given every possible legal break. Thousands of others will not. When the Black Guy is the one charged they do not get the publicity. They get buried. I guess that is special. I hate these media extravaganzas.
Guy Whitey Corngood

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Mar 22, 2012, 10:22 PM, and the Jury voted 2-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: To put it in context I read the other posts in the thread. Pretty clear this person is a troll or close to it. This post warrants a "hide," but I think the poster should be looked at as well.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: I hope the TOS box was checked.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Well, Obama did continue most of the worst of bush's policies - wars, tax cuts, expanded terrorism, Homeland Security, etc.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
I did not know if I should join this site to post. But I really fell good talking to people I do not know. It is very refreshing to get all the opinions. I am in transition to a new ideology. Getting a lot of new ideas. I have not paid much attention for a long time. Most of the people are very thoughtful.

(8,291 posts)Some days around here in the Midwest, a hoodie is what is needed. I wore one in the grocery store today. I had shorts on but grabbed my hoodie because I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE FREEZING in there. I hate being cold. It's navy blue plain, no markings and soft and warm.
It made me smile to see Keith wearing one.
