Gets it right. In the end, Russia will expand and nobody will stop them or can stop them.

Russia's next target is eastern Ukraine. Because pessimism conquers all, don't bet that Putin is going to stop once he wrests Crimea from Kiev's orbit. Eastern, Russian-speaking Ukraineand all its heavy industryis looking pretty good right now. And if you're thinking "Why would Putin take eastern Ukraine?," well, you haven't been reading very carefully.

Let's hope that nobody does anything stupid in Ukraine or elsewhere to get those B-52s loaded with nukes.

(4,015 posts)For an invasion, it was remarkabely unbloody. I hope it stays this way. These games are not worth the life of even one citizen, Ukraine, Russia, Crimea or whatever.

(4,993 posts)to recreate the Russian/Soviet Empire.
In the last 100+ years the Russians/Soviets have gained, lost, regained and re-lost their empire.
This chapped their ass (off and on) during the 20th century.
Putin, being the ultra-nationalist he is, wants to regain this "glory". First in Georgia, now in the Ukraine.
There will be more to come. Not overnight, but during the next 10 years expect to see more moves like this as long as Putin and his ilk are in power.
